BAAB PRAISE & PRAYER BULLETIN                 May 31, 2009

Thank you so much for upholding us in your prayers.

FAMILY NEWS:

ELIZABETH & ELI:
Eli and Liz are very much enjoying their work - Eli, as an assistant physiotherapist in a clinic in Calgary; Elizabeth, working in a home for disabled adults. They continue actively ministering in a Brazilian congregation and are moving to a new house this week.

ANDREW (22 yrs old):
Andrew graduated from Boot Camp and is now officially a U.S. Marine. On Tuesday morning, June 2, he will have a second graduation - this time from Combat Training (which is required of all Marines). That afternoon, he will leave for Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, to begin training in maintenance of electronic equipment.

JOYANNE (20 yrs old):
Joyanne finished her studies at Fanshawe College very successfully.  Presently, she is working at a Japanese restaurant until June 29 when she will travel to west of Edmonton.  There, she will work for the summer as a camp counselor at Brightwood Mission Ranch, a camp for inner city youth. Joy specifically asked prayer that the camp would find enough counsellors; there are plenty of campers, however, they lack counsellors for the summer.  At the end of August, she will begin her studies at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids.

MELISSA (17 yrs old):
The twins are looking forward to finishing eleventh grade soon.  Melissa wil be traveling with us in July to Brazil.  She will be homeschooling Grade 12 beginning in September.

JANICE (17 yrs old):
In early July, Janice will be traveling to Calgary where she will work and begin studies in the Distance Learning program with the Alberta School system.  She will be joining us in Brazil in the fall. This will be the first time ever the twins will be separated and will be a major transition for both of them

PRAISE:
• Earlier this month, we went with Joyanne to Grand Rapids where she was able to set up her courses for the fall at Cornerstone.  While Joy was there, John and Yvonne were able to meet with Al Cuthbert of ABWE's Distance Learning University - Horizon International Schools - about implanting their program into our Bible college. It was a very valuable time.
• This past week, John attended an extremely good conference on Theological Education in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  It far exceeded his expectations as to content and spiritual encouragement.
• We have very much enjoyed our meetings in the churches, meeting new people, renewing old acquaintances and thank God for safe driving over many miles
• We have heard of new support and are very encouraged, believing that God will provide the rest soon.
• Our co-workers, Stephen and Lourdinha Veness, who, after their furlough, will be joining our team in Salvador, arrived in Canada, stayed with us for five days, and left with a good, used car - arriving safely in British Columbia.
• Dave and Patty Zemmer who arrived safely in Salvador this month are settling into the city, the ministry in the churches, and the Bible college.

PLEASE PRAY:
• There are many decisions to be made and jobs to be done as we move towards leaving Canada. Our plan is to arrive in Brazil by the end of July.
• We need to sell our car before we leave and then, in Brazil, find a suitable house and car.
• There will be many adjustments as we return, especially deciding in which church we will minister, etc.
• The new semester at the Bible college begins in early August. Dick Buck, Dave Zemmer, and John together have had conference calls over Skype to set up the courses to be taught and begin discussion as to how each one will fit into the ministry of the college.
• John will be teaching Greek this semester and helping a student prepare for his ordination council as he transitions back into the administration of the college.
• We still need the following financially:
    • $140.00 in monthly pledged support.  There are some who are still considering us for new/increased support.
    • $5,000.00 ( a one-time amount) in a Support Reserve Account
    • Without these two above-mentioned amounts in place, we will not receive clearance to leave.
    • The Bible college finances in Brazil are in the red. A one-time gift or regular monthly support specifically for the Bible college would be much appreciated; even a very small amount can go a long way.
    • We’d like to take back with us a digital projector for the Bible college.
• Two of the churches on the field in the Salvador area are going through pastoral crisis situations
• Many Brazilians were affected by torrential rains across eight states in Brazil. Approximately 400,000 are still displaced from their homes. The Bible college had roof damage over the main classroom.
• Psalm 122: 6  "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!"

We are humbled and grateful for your upholding us.

May God richly bless each of you.

John and Yvonne Baab
